According to Techub, 0x Protocol has announced the opening of its Swap API to AI agents. AI agents can now make swap requests at a cost of $0.01 worth of USDC per call, without the need for an API key or account registration. This gives them access to aggregated data from over 9 blockchains and more than 130 liquidity sources, enabling efficient on-chain swapping through a single integration point.

The integration is built on Alchemy's AgentPay middleware, which utilizes the HTTP 402 payment standard. HTTP 402 was originally intended for digital payments and is now being adapted by 0x to enable a pay-per-use model for AI agents. This removes the friction of traditional API billing and allows automated agents to pay for each request on the fly.

Additionally, 0x has released the "0x Skills" framework documentation tailored for AI agents, helping developers quickly integrate decentralized trading capabilities. The project also launched a beta API that supports cross-chain transactions, allowing AI agents to perform asset exchanges across different blockchain networks. These developments are expected to reduce the entry barrier for AI in DeFi and foster deeper integration between autonomous agents and on-chain finance.
