Blockstream says bug is fixed, nearly 4,000 BTC still awaiting return

Blockstream said it has notified the white-hat hacker that the vulnerability has been fixed and that roughly 4,000 BTC can now be returned safely. The hacker, who had previously withdrawn funds from the Liquid Network, said the BTC would be returned but only after the flaw was patched. The two sides negotiated publicly through Bitcoin OP_RETURN messages.

The hacker initially proposed returning “most” of the BTC, then later changed the condition and asked for the vulnerability to be fixed first, saying: “Ensure every node has been patched, and once the fix is confirmed we will return it safely.” The hacker also sent encrypted vulnerability details to Blockstream.

About two hours earlier, Blockstream responded through a PGP-signed OP_RETURN message saying nodes had been patched. At present, 3,998.5 BTC remains under the hacker’s control.

Hunter Biden has recently voiced support for crypto

Hunter Biden has repeatedly expressed support for cryptocurrencies in public. In June this year, he said, “Decentralized digital currencies and blockchain are the inevitable future.” In the same week, when asked for his view on crypto, he replied simply: “Hyperliquid.”

He also said that when deciding to sell artwork, he wanted every piece to be recorded on-chain and paid for in Bitcoin. He added that Andreas Antonopoulos’ book The Internet of Money had been “eye-opening” for him. He has also hinted at a possible run in the 2028 U.S. presidential election.

Cynthia Lummis says CLARITY delay could push next chance to 2030

U.S. Senator Cynthia Lummis wrote on X that if the CLARITY Act does not pass in the current Congress, the next real opportunity to revisit market structure legislation may not come until 2030.

She said passing the measure now would avoid wasting future years of jobs, investment and tax revenue.

Project update

Long.xyz co-founder reiterates RWA-only pairing strategy

Long.xyz co-founder Nate said in a post on X that the project will continue building assets and products around Robinhood Chain and will stick to a “RWA pairings only” strategy, focusing on pairings tied to real-world assets.

In his view, that model could form a new asset category and connect on-chain assets more closely with the real world.

Analyst Killa says altcoins may be back in an early accumulation phase

Analyst Killa wrote on X that, based on past cycles, altcoins have often offered stronger entry points when BTC starts building a bottom and grinding higher. In the last cycle, BTC rose from $16,000 to $74,000, and many altcoins recorded gains of 300% to 500%. As BTC continued strengthening and BTC dominance rose, many altcoins later came under pressure.

Killa said that if BTC has already set its bottom in this cycle, some altcoins may also have formed their own stage lows. He said he has recently started selectively rebuilding altcoin exposure. His SOL position opened at $76 is now up about 50%; a recent ASTER long idea has a target of at least 50% to 100% upside; and a HYPE spot or long position opened earlier at $51.55 later gained about 70%.

glassnode says privacy tokens are this year’s biggest winners

glassnode said on X that while Bitcoin remains 36% below its October 2025 peak, most crypto sectors are still depressed, but the privacy segment has become the only sector to outperform its previous market high, rising 213% from Oct. 6, 2025.

Its data showed all top 10 sectors gained over the past 30 days, with the privacy segment up 90%. The total market capitalization of the top 200 privacy-focused crypto assets has risen to about $33.6 billion, up sharply from $7.1 billion a year ago, with nearly half of that increase coming in the past 30 days.

Within that group, Zcash (ZEC) climbed from 82nd to 7th by market cap and is up 2,496% over the past year. Monero (XMR) also doubled in price over the same period.

BonkGuy says MEME could become a core token in the stock-coin meme narrative

Trader BonkGuy, also known as Unipcs, added to his bullish case for MEME. He said Robinhood helped DOGE reach a market capitalization of about $88 billion in the previous cycle and introduced many retail traders to meme coins for the first time. If the stock-coin meme narrative continues expanding, a token named directly as “MEME” could have a distribution advantage.

BonkGuy said that if the narrative spills further into the equity market and even revives a 2021-style meme-stock short squeeze setup, attention on MEME could rise again. He stressed that he did not buy based on insider information, but because he sees a new narrative taking shape. He said he has now committed more than $500,000 in total, with an average entry market capitalization of roughly $45 million.
