Abu Dhabi-based artificial intelligence company G42 is exploring the sale of a majority stake to US companies, according to people familiar with the matter. The move is aimed at securing access to high-end AI chips beyond next year, as the company seeks to diversify its supply chain and reduce reliance on uncertain sources.
G42 executives have held preliminary discussions with potential US buyers, the people said. The company is seeking to bring in US capital and partners to guarantee its access to advanced AI chips. If completed, the transaction would significantly alter the ownership structure of the eight-year-old firm, which is controlled by key members of the UAE royal family.
The talks are still in early stages and may not result in a deal, according to Bloomberg, which first reported the news. G42 has been expanding its AI capabilities and recently partnered with other technology firms to boost its computing power.
