Acre, a Bitcoin-first yield platform, today launched its V2 platform featuring an estimated 14% APY vault for Bitcoin holders. Users can participate directly from their wallets without bridging or sacrificing self-custody. The move aims to turn Bitcoin from a passive store of value into a productive asset.
Self-Custody, Auto-Compounding Rewards
Users retain full control of their BTC at all times. The vault employs time-tested onchain yield sources, and all rewards are automatically converted back to native Bitcoin — no exposure to unfamiliar tokens or chains. The protocol handles bridging (via tBTC), rebalancing, and reinvesting automatically onchain. CEO Laura Wallendal stated: “Today, Bitcoin holders are forced to choose between giving up control to a custodian or navigating the complexity of DeFi — often for barely 1% in yield. Acre removes that tradeoff.”
Institutional-Grade Risk Management and Governance
The first vault is curated by Re7 Labs with vault infrastructure provided by Midas. Strategies include liquidity provision, options, and L2 staking, backed by Re7's industry-leading risk management framework. Each vault must pass review by the Acre Security Council, whose members include executives from Lido, Anagram, LedgerPrime, and Threshold. Evgeny Gokhberg, Founder & CIO of Re7 Capital: “We are advancing institutional DeFi infrastructure, and this launch marks a key step on Ethereum Mainnet.” Dennis Dinkelmeyer, CEO of Midas, added: “Responsible partnerships are key to building user confidence and supporting the growth of onchain financial products.”
Addressing Market Pain Points: Trust and Complexity
Research shows 73% of Bitcoin holders are interested in earning yield, but over 40% would allocate less than 20% of their holdings to BTCFi due to trust and complexity concerns. Acre directly addresses this gap with transparent onchain infrastructure and council oversight. The platform is built by the team behind Fold, Casa, Thesis, and tBTC, backed by leaders at Lido, Eigenlayer, Midas, and Re7 — bringing over a decade of Bitcoin expertise focused on simplicity and transparency.
