Jacob C., co-founder and CEO of Coinfello, a self-sovereign AI agent platform, explains that these autonomous agents are doing more than just monitoring gas fees, slippage, and liquidation risks — they are becoming the long-overdue 'translation layer' that bridges users and smart contracts directly.

How AI Agents Eliminate Middleman Risks

Traditional DeFi users rely on dApp frontends to honestly display what a smart contract does and to point to the correct contract address. Jacob C. argues this creates a single point of failure: the frontend could be hacked, maliciously replaced, or simply mislead users. AI agents like those built by Coinfello circumvent this by reading smart contracts directly from the blockchain, explaining their logic, and flagging risks to users — all without trusting any intermediary website. 'The agent is essentially a verifiable translator,' he said. 'Users no longer have to blindly trust a frontend; they base their decisions on the agent’s direct interpretation of the contract.'

Coinfello launched its self-sovereign AI agent that allows users to automate on-chain transactions using plain language while maintaining full self-custody. Unlike most agents on the market that require users to transfer funds into a wallet fully controlled by the agent, Coinfello introduces a concept called 'liquidity sandboxing'. Users approve individual token permissions to the agent, creating protective barriers that prevent the agent from accessing unauthorized assets. Coinfello’s liquidity sandboxing is designed precisely for that: users can revoke a specific token authorization at any time, and the agent cannot cross boundaries to access other assets. This design, according to Jacob C., 'creates guardrails that fundamentally solve the perils of using AI agents safely.'

2030 Prediction: The Decline of dApps

Looking ahead, Jacob C. predicts that AI agents will automate actions users otherwise lack time to monitor, such as dollar-cost averaging or custom trading strategies. By 2030, he foresees a significant decline in decentralized applications (dApps) as the primary way people interact with smart contracts. 'Agents will become the new user interface — they operate directly at the contract layer, and dApps as intermediary websites will be marginalized,' he said.

While this paints a future of seamless automation, Jacob C. emphasizes that security and user sovereignty must always come first. Only by solving the translation layer’s oracle and agency risks can DeFi safely scale to the next hundred million users.
