Norm reaches a $1.2 billion valuation after its latest round
According to Bloomberg, AI legal startup Norm has raised $120 million in a new funding round, bringing its valuation to $1.2 billion. The round was led by Khosla Ventures, with Blackstone, Bain Capital Ventures, and Coatue Management among the participating investors. With this financing, Norm’s total funding has now surpassed $260 million.
Founded in 2023, Norm is part of a growing group of companies applying AI to legal workflows. Its products and services are designed to help legal professionals draft documents, perform research, and review contracts more efficiently. The segment has become increasingly competitive, with companies including Anthropic and Harvey also launching AI agents and software aimed at lawyers and legal teams.
Norm differentiates itself with an in-house law firm
Unlike competitors that mainly sell software to law firms, Norm has taken a different approach by creating its own law firm, Norm Law, and offering AI-powered legal services directly to clients. This structure gives the company a more direct role in service delivery rather than limiting itself to software distribution.
Norm Law also departs from the standard billing model widely used in the legal industry. Instead of charging by the hour, it bills clients based on outcomes. The company’s stated goal is to make pricing better reflect the value of the services provided, an approach that could distinguish it further as AI adoption in legal services continues to expand.
