On April 25, 2024, Pulsr, an AI-powered search engine for non-fungible tokens (NFTs), officially launched its native token $PULSR. Founded in 2021 and backed by leading investors including Spartan Ventures and Sequoia, the project aims to close the discovery gap for on-chain assets across multiple blockchains and media types within the Web3 ecosystem.
Solving the NFT Discovery Problem
The current NFT landscape suffers from significant indexing and discovery bottlenecks. Platforms struggle to aggregate collectibles across different blockchains and formats. Creators must invest time and skill to build communities on separate social networks, while newly minted pieces are often penalized by algorithms, making it difficult for audiences to find content they love. Pulsr leverages artificial intelligence to enhance metadata of both past and present NFTs. By using AI-powered computer vision, the platform accurately analyzes visual and audio content, labels it, and converts it into searchable text — unlocking a new era of NFT-specific search engine optimization. Users can now search for affordable pixel art, penguin-themed NFTs, or techno-inspired on-chain art without relying on word-of-mouth.
NAME: Automated Metadata Enhancement
Pulsr offers a service called NAME (NFT Automated Metadata Enhancement). Before minting, creators can opt into AI-generated metadata labels that describe key attributes such as materials, style, colors, and shapes. This makes artwork searchable in marketplaces. Maxine Ryan, founder of Pulsr, stated: “Pulsr delivers automated and compounded indexing for non-financial assets on the blockchain for the very first time. Our technology is a crucial step toward increasing the adoption of NFTs. The world of digital art is now multi-chain and multi-medium — and we’ll be supporting talented content creators every step of the way.”
$PULSR Token Utility and Tokenomics
The $PULSR token is central to the ecosystem. A portion of tokens has been pre-allocated to the community, earned by using the search engine or other services. Fees are incurred when platforms or individuals use Pulsr to boost NFT visibility, and marketplaces pay a commission for sales driven by traffic from Pulsr. This income is used to buy back $PULSR and distribute it to stakers. Moreover, minting partners must hold $PULSR to access NAME, and tokens are gradually burned as contracts expire. Token holders gain exclusive perks such as access to online and IRL events, curated merchandise, the ability to suggest features, and voting rights. Large holders can also provide direct feedback to the team.
Growing Interest and Partnerships
Since the announcement, Solana-based communities including MagicEden and Madlads have shown keen interest, forming partnerships to expand Web3-wide NFT discovery. Maxine Ryan added: “Our ecosystem creates a win-win-win situation. Not only do collectors find it easier to uncover pieces they’ll love, but creators amplify their reach, and NFT marketplaces gain new customers. A digital renaissance has arrived, and our search engine is designed to create a lasting library of imaginative works.”
