Enterprise cloud infrastructure firm Akave announced on March 2, 2026 that it had secured $6.65 million in funding. The round included support from a group of well-known crypto and infrastructure investors, including Protocol Labs, No Limit Holdings, Blockchange, Lightshift, Blockchain Builders Fund, Big Brain Holdings, Avalanche Foundation, and the Filecoin Foundation.
Building a decentralized cloud platform
Akave said the new capital will support the development of Akave Cloud, a decentralized cloud storage platform built on the Avalanche L1 blockchain. The product is designed to offer S3-compatible decentralized storage, a feature that could make it easier for developers and enterprises to integrate blockchain-based storage into existing workflows without abandoning familiar cloud standards.
Targeting AI-driven storage demand
A notable part of Akave’s strategy is its focus on AI applications. As artificial intelligence workloads continue to generate large volumes of training, inference, and operational data, infrastructure providers are looking for ways to deliver storage that is scalable, resilient, and less dependent on centralized operators. Akave is positioning its platform specifically around these needs, aiming to serve AI-oriented use cases with decentralized architecture.
What the investor lineup signals
The investor mix is also significant. Backing from organizations linked to both the Avalanche and Filecoin ecosystems suggests growing interest in combining blockchain networks with decentralized cloud services. While the funding gives Akave additional resources to advance its platform, the company has not yet disclosed further details on launch timing, commercial traction, or user adoption in the available announcement.
