Odaily, citing Cointelegraph, reported that digital asset company AllUnity has launched SEKAU, a stablecoin backed by the Swedish krona. The token is issued under the European Union’s Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation and operates as an electronic money token under MiCA. The launch places a Swedish krona-denominated asset into a regulated stablecoin structure, with the disclosed framework centered on issuance rules, reserve support and blockchain deployment.

SEKAU is supported by segregated Swedish krona reserves

According to the announcement, SEKAU is backed by segregated Swedish krona reserves. The token is aimed at institutional settlement and cross-border payments, giving it a clearly defined use case in payment and settlement activity rather than a broad consumer positioning. Its support structure is based on Swedish krona reserves, aligning the token’s reference asset with the currency named in the product.

Several partners are involved in the token’s launch and operating framework. Banking Circle will hold and manage the reserves backing SEKAU. Sweden’s Marginalen Bank is supporting the launch as the banking partner, while Trust Anchor Group is providing infrastructure integration. These roles cover reserve holding and management, bank partnership support and the infrastructure layer needed for integration.

Five blockchain networks at launch

SEKAU is initially launching across five blockchain networks: Ethereum, Solana, Base, Tempo and Polygon. The first deployment therefore spans multiple chain environments from the start, matching the stated focus on institutional settlement and cross-border payments. The announcement identifies these five networks as the initial scope for the token’s availability.

AllUnity said it plans to expand SEKAU to additional blockchain networks later in 2026. Based on the information disclosed, the stablecoin’s key elements include its status as a MiCA electronic money token, segregated Swedish krona reserves, reserve management by Banking Circle, banking support from Marginalen Bank, infrastructure integration by Trust Anchor Group and an initial launch on Ethereum, Solana, Base, Tempo and Polygon.
