SkyBridge Capital founder and former White House communications director Anthony Scaramucci has predicted that Bitcoin’s market capitalization could surge to $21 trillion, implying a price of $1 million per BTC. At the time of writing, Bitcoin trades at approximately $76,534, suggesting a potential gain of over 1,200%.
Institutional Adoption as the Catalyst
Scaramucci emphasized that the influx of institutional capital is the primary driver behind Bitcoin’s valuation expansion. He specifically highlighted Morgan Stanley’s recent launch of a spot Bitcoin ETF and Goldman Sachs’ plans for a similar product. These moves by traditional finance giants signal Bitcoin’s transition from a niche asset to a mainstream portfolio holding.
“Bitcoin’s fixed supply—capped at 21 million coins—and its decentralized trust model give it structural advantages over gold,” Scaramucci said in an interview. “Ease of transfer and storage, coupled with institutions’ urgent need for digital asset exposure, will enable Bitcoin to close the gap with gold.” Gold’s current market cap stands at roughly $33 trillion, while Bitcoin’s is about $1.5 trillion.
Macro Backdrop and Industry Endorsement
Scaramucci’s prediction aligns with other bullish voices. MicroStrategy co-founder Michael Saylor recently forecast Bitcoin to outperform the S&P 500 with 30% annual returns; BitMEX analysts see rising bond yields potentially triggering a Bitcoin super cycle. Moreover, SpaceX holds $1.45 billion in Bitcoin, and Harvard University began investing in Bitcoin ETFs in Q2 2025. These signals collectively reinforce the narrative of digital gold.
Risks and Roadblocks
While Scaramucci’s outlook is extremely bullish, Bitcoin reaching $1 million faces hurdles: regulatory uncertainty, market volatility, and competition from other digital assets. The founder acknowledged that achieving this target may take years, but the long-term trend is clear. With institutions like Morgan Stanley and Goldman Sachs entering the space, Bitcoin’s institutionalization is accelerating. If the $21 trillion market cap scenario materializes, Bitcoin would rival gold, reshaping global asset allocation.
