Anthropic has introduced Claude Design, an experimental product that extends Claude into visual creation. The tool is aimed at founders and product managers without formal design training, letting them turn text prompts into app prototypes, slide decks and one-pagers, then revise the output through follow-up prompts.
Text prompts turn ideas into editable visual drafts
According to Anthropic, Claude Design is built for users who need to make ideas tangible without starting inside a professional design suite. A natural-language prompt produces an initial draft, and that draft can then be refined through conversation. Users can ask Claude to adjust colors, change typography, or add interface elements such as a dark mode toggle.
Positioned alongside Canva rather than against it
Anthropic told media outlets that Claude Design is meant to complement Canva, not replace it. The product is designed for people who do not know how to begin with advanced design software but still need a fast way to visualize concepts and share them with a team.
Once a draft is ready, users can export it as a PDF, a shareable link, or a PPTX file. Anthropic also said projects can be sent directly to Canva, where teams can continue editing and collaboration. That puts Claude Design in the early ideation and draft-generation layer rather than positioning it as a closed design workflow.
Enterprise feature applies design systems from company codebases
One of the product's key enterprise capabilities is its ability to read a company's codebase and design files, then apply that organization's design system to generated work. Anthropic says this helps keep prototypes, presentations and planning documents aligned with internal brand standards from the start.
Powered by Claude Opus 4.7 in research preview
Claude Design is currently available in research preview and runs on Claude Opus 4.7. Access has been opened to subscribers on Claude Pro, Max, Team, and Enterprise plans.
The launch also highlights Anthropic's push into enterprise and prosumer markets. Days before the announcement, Bloomberg reported that venture firms had approached Anthropic with defensive financing proposals that could value the company at $800 billion or more. The report added that Anthropic does not appear interested in those proposals at this stage.
