Apple's support pages in China now show that Apple Intelligence can work with Alibaba's Qwen model, a change tracked by Chinese AI news monitor Beating. On the pages, Apple lists the operations available once a user opts in: getting more answers from Siri, with Qwen powering deeper replies on certain requests such as analyzing photos and documents, and creating text or images through Writing Tools from a description alone. The listing follows Apple Intelligence's first generative AI filing in mainland China on July 15, which paved the way for Qwen to be integrated as an AI capability across iOS, iPadOS, macOS and visionOS. That integration is meant to bring text and image understanding, content generation and related services to Chinese users of Apple's major operating systems, without forcing them to switch between apps. Baidu's AI capabilities are also set to join Apple Intelligence, as the two Chinese AI providers become part of Apple's localization push in China.

Apple's China support pages now say Apple Intelligence can work with Qwen from Alibaba, according to monitoring from Beating, a Chinese AI news outlet. The official description lays out what users can do once they allow the integration.

"If you choose to allow Apple Intelligence to work with Qwen from Alibaba, you can perform the following operations: get more answers from Siri. For some requests, Siri can use Qwen to provide deeper answers, for example, analysis related to photos and documents. Create text with Writing Tools. With Qwen, Writing Tools can create text or images based on a description alone."

The listing follows a regulatory step from July 15, when Apple Intelligence completed its first generative AI filing in mainland China. Alibaba's Qwen will be integrated into Apple Intelligence as an AI capability, giving Chinese users of iOS, iPadOS, macOS and visionOS text and image understanding, content generation and other services. Users can access these features without switching between apps.

Baidu's AI capabilities are also set to join Apple Intelligence, according to the same report. That puts two Chinese AI providers inside Apple's system as the company's AI localization in China formally takes shape.
