ARK Invest, led by Cathie Wood, added to its crypto-linked equity exposure during a broader market pullback, buying more than $16 million worth of Coinbase and Robinhood shares. The purchases came as risk assets faced pressure across U.S. markets.

Coinbase and Robinhood purchases topped $16 million

According to ARK’s latest trading disclosures, the firm bought 22,452 shares of Coinbase, valued at about $4.09 million based on the day’s closing price. It also acquired 158,587 shares of Robinhood, a trade worth roughly $12.06 million. Combined, the two transactions totaled about $16.15 million.

The buying was spread across several ARK exchange-traded funds rather than being placed in a single vehicle. The funds named in the disclosure were the ARK Innovation ETF, the ARK Next Generation Internet ETF, and the ARK Fintech Innovation ETF, showing that the allocation was made across multiple parts of the firm’s lineup.

Buying came during a volatile session

Both stocks declined during the session, according to the source material. It also said Coinbase was up about 1.9% from the start of the day, while Robinhood gained roughly 1.61%, even as broader U.S. equities weakened on rising geopolitical tension and a shift toward risk-off positioning. The Nasdaq Composite and the S&P 500 were also described as gradually regaining momentum.

The market move followed volatility tied to escalating tension involving the United States and Iran. Those developments weighed on global markets and put pressure on growth-focused technology shares. ARK’s decision fits Wood’s established approach of adding to positions during downturns in companies the firm believes are structurally positioned for long-term expansion.

ARK maintains exposure to crypto infrastructure and fintech trading

Within ARK portfolios, Coinbase remains a core crypto infrastructure holding, while Robinhood offers exposure to retail trading activity and broader fintech adoption trends. Even with near-term weakness in both names, the new allocation points to ARK’s continued confidence in digital asset platforms and technology-driven brokerage models.

The crypto market also moved higher. Bitcoin rose about 7.55% over the past 24 hours, pushing above $71,000 for the first time since February 9, when it briefly tested that level. Across the sector, total crypto market capitalization climbed 6.24% in the past day to roughly $2.43 trillion, according to CoinMarketCap.
