The 4th HED Conference of Asia, organized by Finfo Global, concluded successfully in Hong Kong on March 19-20, 2026. Under the theme “From Capital to Innovation: Rethinking Asset Allocation in an Era of Disruption,” the summit brought together over 300 decision-makers from private banks, family offices, and the wealth management industry. More than 50 industry experts engaged in deep discussions on renminbi internationalization, cross-border fund structures, artificial intelligence applications, quantitative strategy development, and wealth management transformation, outlining the future trajectory of Asia’s financial ecosystem.
Hong Kong as a Gateway to Global Capital
In his opening address, Zhu Ha, Founder and CEO of Finfo Global, highlighted Hong Kong’s evolving role as a unique gateway connecting mainland China with the rest of the world. Accelerating renminbi internationalization, shifting cross-border fund structures, and a flourishing family office ecosystem are reinforcing this position. Zhu emphasized that the convergence of technology, regulation, and capital is fundamentally changing the logic underpinning wealth and asset management. As a comprehensive capital platform, Finfo Global connects listed companies, institutional investors, and distribution channels to offer global asset managers a one-stop solution for the China market.
Macro Shifts and New Market Strategies
Benjamin Deng, CEO of Sun Life Asset Management (Asia), delivered a keynote analyzing diverging global interest rate cycles and the strategic value of commodities and gold. In a discussion on asset tokenization, Allen Li, CEO of Precision Fund Services, and Janice Poon, Investor Relations Manager at Peakwater Management, focused on real-world asset (RWA) use cases and Asia’s regulatory frameworks. On private credit, Ming Bi, CEO of Genesis Financial Information Services, argued that success hinges not on cost of capital but on local deal sourcing and legal enforceability across jurisdictions. A panel on offshore structures concluded that hybrid models combining onshore and offshore operations, along with tokenized funds, will dominate the next three to five years.
Quant 2.0: LLMs Driving Alpha
Moderated by Alan Tse, CIO of AA Capital, the “Quant 2.0” panel featured Laurence Yang (Founder & CIO, LHG Capital Management), Roger Zhu (Managing Director, Winfield Global Capital), and Marcus Kim (Founder & CEO, Qraft Technologies). All agreed that using large language models to extract alpha signals from unstructured data such as news and social media is becoming a key competitive advantage for quantitative strategies over traditional price-volume models.
Market Opportunities and Wealth Management Evolution
Jeff Huang, CEO of Nomura Asset Management Taiwan, addressed the evolving landscape of Greater China capital markets. Tiffany Gu, Business Development Director (Greater China) at Winton, presented data on how CTA strategies act as buffers during equity downturns. Patrick Lui, Managing Director of GRT Capital Management, proposed a “HALO Asset” strategy (Hard Assets, Low Obsolescence), noting capital is shifting from “digital scalability” to “physical scarcity,” a view that resonated widely. An ETF innovation panel led by Molokai Capital highlighted that liquid, transparent ETFs have evolved from index trackers into vehicles for complex institutional strategies. iFAST Financial HK moderated a fund distribution panel analyzing the transition from traditional banking to digital, platform-driven models. On blockchain efficiency, Don Ng, Head of Digital Assets at China Asset Management (Hong Kong), detailed the firm’s tokenization process, explaining how blockchain enables automated compliance, instant settlement, and reconciliation to solve traditional pain points.
A Look at the Next Decade
In the closing panel moderated by Yuan Meng, APAC Relationship Director at SBAI, panelists Stephen Pau (CIO, Hefeng Family Office), Darren Ng (Group CFO, WRISE Group), and Samantha Zhai (CEO, Heritvest Wealth Management (Hong Kong)) observed that the client base in Greater China is undergoing structural change, with high-net-worth individuals, family offices, and next-generation entrepreneurs demanding wealth management services with both global reach and professional depth. The 4th HED Conference of Asia not only connected global capital with Asian innovation but also provided clear strategic direction for asset allocation in an uncertain market environment.
