Nasdaq-listed AsiaStrategy (ticker: SORA) said on Oct. 1 that it has signed a non-binding memorandum of understanding with Plume, an open finance platform for institutional assets, to explore forming a joint venture focused on tokenized financial products for investors in Asia and other markets outside the United States.
Proposed division of responsibilities
Under the MOU framework, Plume would provide tokenization infrastructure, technical capabilities and regulatory qualifications, including registrations and licenses in several jurisdictions. AsiaStrategy, together with the broader Sora Ventures network, would contribute origination, distribution and capital markets channels in Asia, covering Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong, Thailand and the United Arab Emirates.
The companies said they intend to begin with products that combine established asset classes with compliant on-chain distribution. The product range, structure and launch order are still being discussed. No product has been launched or offered to investors so far.
Jason Fang comments on tokenization
AsiaStrategy Chairman and Co-Chief Executive Officer Jason Fang said, "Tokenization will become the default way many financial assets are issued and held, and Asia will be first."
Company background and Plume's existing platform
AsiaStrategy is incorporated in the Cayman Islands and headquartered in Hong Kong. The company said its business has expanded from luxury watch trading into bitcoin treasury management, digital asset-backed lending, and related financing and tokenization initiatives.
Plume's flagship protocol, Plume Vaults, provides access to assets from institutions including Apollo, WisdomTree and Hamilton Lane through compliant, non-custodial vaults. Its backers include Apollo Global Management, Galaxy Digital and Brevan Howard.
