Asseto said on Oct. 8 that it is working with licensed fund service provider AlfaR to build a digital transfer agent, or DTA, service framework, according to an official announcement cited by Odaily. The setup is built on Asseto’s on-chain infrastructure and is designed to let blockchain records directly maintain fund unit and securities holder registers, with those on-chain records serving as formal ownership registration. The two companies said they will run the framework jointly as part of a longer-term business and technology integration. Under the arrangement, Asseto will handle tokenization technology, on-chain infrastructure and distribution networks, while AlfaR will provide fund administration services across the full process, including investor onboarding, net asset value calculation and transfer agency functions. The partnership will start with fund products and aims to connect the full workflow covering investor access, subscription, transfer and redemption, offering asset managers a one-stop on-chain fund operations service. Odaily also noted that the move lines up with a Sept. 1 U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission proposal to revise transfer agent rules and, for the first time, allow registered transfer agents to use blockchain as the official master securityholder file.

Asseto, a provider of full-stack technical infrastructure and tokenization solutions, said on Oct. 8 that it has teamed up with licensed fund service provider AlfaR to build a digital transfer agent, or DTA, service framework, according to an official announcement cited by Odaily.

The framework uses Asseto’s on-chain infrastructure as its base layer. It is intended to let blockchain directly record and maintain registers for fund units and securities holders, with on-chain records serving as formal ownership registration. The two sides said they will advance long-term business and technology integration through a joint operating model.

How the partnership is structured

Under the arrangement, Asseto is responsible for tokenization technology, on-chain infrastructure and distribution networks. AlfaR will provide end-to-end fund administration services, including investor onboarding, net asset value calculation and transfer agency services.

The companies said the cooperation will begin with fund products, linking the full process from investor onboarding and subscription to transfer and redemption. The stated goal is to offer asset managers a one-stop on-chain fund operations service.

SEC proposal cited in the announcement

Odaily said the move comes against the backdrop of a Sept. 1 notice from the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. In that notice, the SEC proposed revising transfer agent rules to allow registered transfer agents, for the first time, to use blockchain as the official master securityholder file. The joint DTA framework, according to the announcement, is expected to speed up adoption of that model.
