Aster DEX has officially launched perpetual contracts for Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix, offering up to 5x leverage. Traders can now take positions on the price movements of these two South Korean semiconductor giants without leaving the blockchain ecosystem. The platform confirmed on X that Korean stock contracts are live, with 5x leverage available for both Samsung and SK Hynix trades. The move aims to bridge traditional capital markets and decentralized trading, strengthening Aster's play in real-world assets (RWA) as a decentralized derivatives exchange.
5x Leverage on Samsung and SK Hynix Go Live
Perpetual contracts are derivatives that track an asset's price without a fixed expiry. Synthetic structures mean investors do not need to hold the underlying stock; the contract simply follows the price, enabling both long and short positions. Users worldwide can now trade Asian tech stocks 24/7 using standard crypto collateral, removing intermediaries and slashing geographic barriers. Aster's announcement calls this a seamless link between traditional equity markets and on-chain trading.
Strong financial results underpin market interest. Samsung's semiconductor division posted an operating profit of 53.7 trillion won in Q1 2026, while SK Hynix recorded revenue of 52.6 trillion won for the same period. Both are key suppliers of high-bandwidth memory (HBM) used in AI data centers. The launch puts these two industry leaders at the core of the AI memory sector, per the announcement.
AI Memory Supply Pressures Intensify
Concerns over tightening memory chip supply are growing. A Samsung memory executive warned that supply constraints for key products could last until 2027, significantly impacting global tech supply chains. Goldman Sachs described the DRAM supply-demand imbalance as the toughest in the past 15 years. Assets facing scarcity risks tend to see elevated volatility, drawing traders active on on-chain platforms.
Perpetual Features and Aster Ecosystem Push
Key features of synthetic perpetuals include 24/7 trading, no intermediaries, lower geographic barriers, and short-selling capability. Users can react to price moves in Asian tech stocks using standard crypto collateral. To boost adoption, Aster launched its RWA Sprint Season 1 campaign, aimed at reducing trading fees on selected real-world asset perpetual markets, which is said to support platform liquidity. The platform's total perpetual trading volume has reached $1.26 trillion to date.
