ChainCatcher and Chinese outlet IT Home say Asus, Gigabyte, and other GPU makers are getting ready for another price increase in September for the Chinese mainland market. The top-end jump could hit RMB 500, about NT$2,300. And yes, that should fatten revenue for board and card companies such as Asus, Gigabyte, MSI, Leadtek, and Chaintech.
Model-Specific Price Hikes
Asus is set to lift net costs for its Nvidia RTX 5070 series by RMB 150 to 300 in September. Other series? No change. Gigabyte, for its part, plans to add RMB 200 to all RTX 5060TI 16G models, while leaving its other models where they are.
On the AMD side, the RX 9070 XT series goes up by RMB 200. The RX 9060 XT 16G/8G series climbs by RMB 200 to 250. And the RX 7650 GRE series gets the biggest increase of the bunch: RMB 400.
Reasons and Market Context
Reports say the main drivers are memory shortages and a production shift toward AI-focused GPUs. Nvidia has already cut its overall consumer GPU shipments by 15% to 20% in the third quarter, and September allocations for each brand are estimated to look much like August. Supply is still tight. Really tight. High-end cards such as the RTX 5080 and RTX 5070 Ti are among the hardest to get. This is another round of Nvidia price hikes this year, after multiple earlier adjustments.
