Aurise Foundation has introduced XAUE, a yield-bearing gold token built as a Treasury Layer for Tether Gold (XAU₮). The protocol is designed for qualified institutional participants and runs on Ethereum, with the stated goal of turning traditionally non-yielding gold exposure into a programmable on-chain asset with higher capital efficiency.
Aurelion and Antalpha commit capital at launch
According to the announcement, ecosystem partners Aurelion and Antalpha have jointly committed 500 million XAU₮ into XAUE at launch, equal to roughly $76 million as of April 22, 2026. Aurise said XAUE could later connect with additional decentralized finance protocols as the ecosystem grows, positioning the token as a potential collateral and settlement asset in on-chain markets.
Fixed supply model ties yield to rising reserve value
The release frames XAUE as a response to a long-standing limitation in gold markets. Gold has been used as a hedge against inflation and systemic risk for decades, yet it has remained relatively inefficient from a capital perspective. Gold ETFs improved access but do not offer 24/7 liquidity. Digital gold products such as XAU₮ and PAXG made transfers easier and broadened global access, but they still depend mainly on price appreciation and do not generate native yield.
XAUE is built to preserve exposure to the underlying value of XAU₮ while adding a gold-denominated yield mechanism. Aurise said the protocol uses a fixed supply model, meaning the gold value backing each XAUE token may increase over time as net yield accrues. In the example provided, depositing 1 XAU₮ mints 1,000 XAUE at a 1000:1 ratio. With a 2% annual yield, reserves rise to 1.02 XAU₮ while token supply stays unchanged, allowing 1,000 XAUE to redeem for 1.02 XAU₮.
Ethereum protocol with restricted institutional access
Aurise describes XAUE as a decentralized asset enhancement protocol on Ethereum. The structure includes gold-denominated yield, reserve verification, a compliant access framework, and the 1000:1 fractionalization model. The foundation said returns are generated through quantitative strategies and institutional lending, while the token remains fully backed by physical gold or XAU₮.
Governance, audits, Proof of Reserves, and AML/KYC compliance are overseen by Aurise Foundation and its partners. Access is limited to whitelisted institutions that have completed KYC/KYB verification in eligible jurisdictions. The company also said the press release should not be treated as an offer or solicitation.
