Avalanche Treasury shares debuted on Nasdaq at $2.99, briefly touched $3.00, then collapsed to a low of $1.75 during the session. The stock closed down roughly 38% and edged up to about $1.90 in after-hours trading, reflecting weak investor reception.

$675M SPAC Merger Finalized

The listing followed the completion of a $675 million merger with Mountain Lake Acquisition Corp., a special-purpose acquisition company (SPAC). The deal instantly transformed Avalanche Treasury into a publicly traded entity focused on the Avalanche blockchain ecosystem.

Hybrid Model: Treasury Plus Operating Business

Unlike conventional digital asset holding firms, Avalanche Treasury positions itself as both a digital asset treasury and an active operating company. Its stated goal is to give public market investors indirect exposure to the Avalanche ecosystem without needing to hold AVAX tokens directly. Top executive Bart Smith stressed that the strategy does not rely on AVAX price appreciation alone; capital will instead be deployed into infrastructure investments, staking operations, and broader ecosystem growth.

Top-Tier Backers

Investors include Dragonfly, ParaFi Capital, VanEck, Galaxy Digital, Pantera Capital, CoinFund, Kraken, FalconX, and Borderless, bridging the crypto and traditional finance worlds. The advisory board features Ava Labs founder Emin Gün Sirer and Aave founder Stani Kulechov.

AVAX Exposure: 15M Tokens, 3.5% of Circulating Supply

The company holds approximately 15 million AVAX, representing roughly 3.5% of the token's total circulating supply. This sizable position makes AVAX price movements a critical factor for the balance sheet.

AVAX Price: Down Over 50% in Six Months

At the time of the report, AVAX traded near $6.62, posting a modest daily gain but losing more than 50% of its value over the past six months. Market headwinds continue to pressure both the token and the newly public treasury.
