Axi has rolled out a new feature called Buy Crypto, giving clients the ability to buy, sell and hold cryptocurrencies directly on its trading platform. The launch expands the Sydney-based broker’s offering beyond derivatives and into spot digital asset transactions.
The company said the feature is designed to give traders access to crypto markets within a single trading environment. It ties into rising demand from investors looking for digital asset exposure alongside products tied to traditional financial markets.
Spot crypto joins Axi’s existing brokerage offering
Axi operates as an online trading provider offering contracts for difference across asset classes such as foreign exchange, equities, commodities and digital assets. Adding spot crypto marks a notable product expansion, shifting from exposure through derivative instruments to direct ownership of the underlying asset.
That distinction matters. With crypto CFDs, traders speculate on price movements without holding the asset itself; spot trading allows them to purchase and keep the digital asset directly. Across the retail brokerage industry, more platforms have been moving in this direction as client demand for broader access to crypto continues.
One interface, with analytics and education built in
According to Axi, clients can access cryptocurrencies through the same interface already used for other instruments on the platform. The company said users can buy, sell or hold digital assets while also using integrated analytical tools and educational resources. The setup keeps activity in one place.
That unified approach has become common among trading providers trying to combine multiple asset classes inside a single platform. Charting tools, analytics and research materials are typically included to help traders assess market conditions, while crypto-focused learning materials are intended to explain market structure, volatility and risk.
Executive points to demand and professional standards
Stuart Cooke, Head of New Business at Axi, said the company has built its reputation on credibility, transparency and innovation. He added that digital asset investing should meet the same professional standards as any other financial market.
Cooke also said the launch responds to rising demand from traders seeking crypto exposure. In his words, Axi is expanding the platform while aiming to ensure clients have the tools and support needed to engage responsibly. He also said clients want to diversify into crypto through a partner they can rely on.
Brokerage expansion comes as retail crypto activity stays active
Retail trading platforms have increasingly added cryptocurrency services as investor interest in digital assets has grown. Many brokers first entered the segment through derivatives products, but spot trading services are now being added as firms look to integrate crypto alongside more traditional financial instruments.
Even so, the market remains highly volatile. The report notes that crypto prices can move quickly because of market sentiment, regulatory developments and macroeconomic factors. Rules also differ by jurisdiction, with some markets applying strict licensing requirements while others are still building out oversight frameworks.
