Backpack unveiled its tokenomics with a fixed 1B supply, 25% circulating at TGE. Points holders get 24%, no team unlocks. Pre-IPO investors face growth milestones, post-IPO treasury locked for a year. The exchange is raising at a $1B valuation.

Backpack Exchange has officially disclosed its tokenomics, revealing a model that prioritizes user rewards and long-term growth over insider speculation. The total supply is capped at 1 billion tokens, with 25% (250 million) entering circulation at the Token Generation Event (TGE). The remaining tokens are locked under strict, milestone-based rules.

TGE Allocation: User-Centric with Zero Team Unlocks

Of the circulating tokens at TGE, 240 million (24%) go to points holders and 10 million (1%) to Mad Lads NFT holders. Notably, no tokens are released to founders, employees, or early investors unless an IPO or exit event occurs at least one year after TGE. This eliminates immediate insider selling pressure — a distinctive feature for a centralized exchange.

Growth-Linked Unlocks and IPO Treasury Lock

A total of 37.5% of the supply is allocated to pre-IPO investors, but these tokens can only be unlocked after meeting specific growth milestones. Another 37.5% is reserved for the post-IPO corporate treasury, locked for one year after an initial public offering. This structure makes Backpack's tokenomics one of the most restrictive and user-focused in the CEX space, according to the team.

Funding and Regulatory Progress

Backpack is reportedly in talks to raise $50 million or more at a $1 billion pre-money valuation, per Axios. The company has already secured $17 million in 2024 and claims annual revenue exceeding $100 million. On the regulatory front, it holds a Dubai license, MiFID II approval for derivatives in the EU, and is planning U.S. market entry. Backpack also aims to become the first centralized exchange to offer on-chain equities.

Token Utility and Real-World Asset Expansion

Utility features are expected to roll out after TGE. The platform already supports self-custody wallets, perpetual trading, and xNFTs. A partnership with Superstate brings tokenized stocks like AAPL and TSLA to Solana, giving the token a tangible demand driver from real-world assets (RWA).

Price Outlook

With only 25% of supply liquid at TGE, the token could see relative price stability initially. At a fully diluted valuation of $1 billion, the estimated TGE price range is $0.20–$0.35. Short-term volatility is expected, while medium-term value hinges on exchange growth, regulatory clarity, and IPO timeline. This content is for informational purposes only, not financial advice.
