According to Techub News, Base has announced an expansion of its Model Context Protocol (MCP) functionality, integrating 13 on-chain applications. The newly added protocols include Balancer, Bitrefill, Brickken, and KyberSwap, enabling AI agents to perform a variety of operations such as lending, trading, minting NFTs, and purchasing gift cards.

The MCP feature was first launched on May 26 of this year with support for only 7 protocols. With this expansion, the coverage has tripled, significantly enhancing the ability of AI agents to interact within the on-chain ecosystem.

Base employs a non-custodial architecture combined with OAuth authentication. AI agents can propose transactions, but these transactions require explicit user approval before execution. This design aims to balance automation efficiency with user fund security, ensuring that users retain ultimate control over their assets.
