Belarus’ High Technology Park, or HTP, has registered the country’s first two crypto banks, according to ChainCatcher. The two institutions have first obtained HTP resident company status, which is the initial step in the process. They still need to pass certification by the National Bank of the Republic of Belarus and be entered into the crypto bank registry before completing the full approval path.
The names of the two institutions have not been disclosed. Under a related decree introduced in Belarus this year, crypto banks are allowed to combine digital token business with banking, payment, and other related financial services. The update points to a formal regulatory route for institutions seeking to operate crypto banking activities within the country’s legal framework.
