Binance Compliance Spending Hits $300M Annually, AI Systems Block Over $10.5B in Fraud
According to a report by FinanceFeeds cited by ChainCatcher, Binance has revealed that its annual compliance expenditure has reached approximately $300 million. Between 2025 and the first quarter of 2026, the exchange's internal systems, powered by AI-driven technology, intercepted potential fraud amounting to $10.53 billion, safeguarding over 5.4 million users. This achievement is backed by a compliance team of nearly 1,500 employees, a scale approaching that of major financial institutions.
Since 2021, Binance has recovered more than $8.2 billion in user assets and processed 313,653 requests from law enforcement agencies. These figures demonstrate that Binance is embedding compliance as a core operational function, employing over 20 AI security tools for transaction monitoring and fraud detection, forming a relatively robust risk control system.
MiCA Regulatory Pressure Poses New Challenges for Binance Compliance
This disclosure comes at a critical time when Binance faces heightened global regulatory scrutiny. In Europe, the Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) regulation requires exchanges to obtain authorization to continue services or risk suspension. Binance has encountered regulatory resistance in several EU countries, with some markets even imposing restrictions or demanding business suspensions.
Despite Binance's considerable compliance investment, regulators are demanding more comprehensive standards around governance, risk culture, and sanctions controls. Compliance spending alone may not be sufficient to fully meet these requirements. Binance needs to strengthen its organizational structure, internal control processes, and regulatory communication to navigate an increasingly tightening global regulatory landscape.
