Binance said its effort to obtain a Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) license in Europe is still moving through the regulatory process, with another update planned before June 30, 2026. The exchange said it remains in contact with authorities across the region and wants to operate under a single EU framework.
Greek review completed while EU-level process remains unclear
According to Binance, it submitted a MiCA application and spent several months working with the Hellenic Capital Market Commission. The company said the Greek regulator completed its review and viewed the application as compliant with MiCA requirements. Binance also said the filing was reviewed at the level of the European Securities and Markets Authority, but it did not disclose the current stage of that process.
The company did not announce a final outcome. Instead, it said discussions with regulators in Europe are continuing and repeated that it is prepared to operate under what it described as a fair and harmonized framework across the region.
Exchange highlights compliance expansion and control systems
Alongside the licensing update, Binance pointed to changes in its compliance operations. It said the company now has more than 1,500 compliance professionals worldwide. Binance said those investments include technology upgrades, tighter internal controls, and dedicated compliance teams, linking them directly to its broader regulatory agenda.
Binance also said it secured a full set of licenses under the Abu Dhabi Global Market framework. In the same update, the exchange stated that its compliance systems helped prevent nearly $7 billion in potential fraud losses. The figures were presented as part of its case for sustained spending on supervision and risk controls.
Europe remains a core market in Binance’s long-term plans
As the MiCA process continues, Binance said reducing disruption for users is its main objective. The exchange added that it will share more details when available, including possible next steps and available options.
Binance described Europe as central to its long-term strategy and said it supports clear, consistent regulation for digital assets. For now, the company’s latest public commitment is limited to timing: it said another update will be released before June 30, 2026.
