Bitcoin’s 30-day average of active addresses stood at about 629,000 as of Nov. 1, down 43% from a local peak of roughly 1.1 million recorded in December 2024, according to monitoring by analyst Axel Adler Jr. The metric also fell another 1% over the past week and now sits about 10% below the yearly average of around 702,000. Historical comparison shows that in 2018, the same indicator dropped from about 1.1 million to roughly 547,000, a decline of around 50% over about three months. In the current cycle, the pullback has lasted nearly two years, with a similar magnitude but a slower pace. Over the same period, the 30-day average of daily transfer volume fell from about 865,000 BTC on Dec. 10, 2024 to around 819,000 BTC, a decline of roughly 5.4%, while still remaining about 5.5% above the yearly average of around 776,000 BTC. The analysis says active addresses have retreated sharply, but the scale of BTC moved on-chain remains broadly in line with recent years, and neither metric has shown signs of a sustained recovery over the past week.
