Bitcoin.com has announced the integration of Stellar (XLM), Stellar-based assets, and Stellar-native DeFi protocols into the Bitcoin.com Wallet app. With the update, users around the world can access Stellar’s payment and decentralized finance ecosystem directly from the wallet, expanding access to fast settlement and low-cost transactions.
New in-app access to XLM and DeFi
According to the company, wallet users can now buy, sell, and swap XLM and Stellar-based tokens more easily inside the app. The integration also brings support for Stellar-native DeFi features, with Aqua and Blend now available through the wallet for yield opportunities and liquidity pool participation.
Bitcoin.com is also adding Stellar-related activities to its Rewards Center. Through these quests, users can learn about the Stellar network while earning crypto rewards. The move suggests a combined strategy of onboarding, education, and incentives aimed at introducing more users to the Stellar ecosystem.
Stellar’s payments-first design
The announcement highlights that Stellar differs from many blockchains that have focused heavily on speculation. Stellar was built primarily as a payments-first network, offering near-instant settlement, minimal fees, a built-in decentralized exchange, and regulated fiat on- and off-ramps through anchors. These features make it particularly suitable for cross-border payments, tokenized assets, and broader financial inclusion use cases.
The network has also expanded beyond payments. With the addition of Soroban smart contracts in 2024, Stellar gained programmable functionality that supports a wider DeFi stack. Its integration into Bitcoin.com Wallet reflects that broader evolution, positioning Stellar not only as a payment rail but also as a growing decentralized financial ecosystem.
Both sides stress broader financial access
Raja Chakravorti, Chief Business Officer of the Stellar Development Foundation, said the integration helps advance Stellar’s mission of making global financial infrastructure more inclusive. In his view, the partnership gives more people access to Stellar assets and DeFi in just a few clicks and could extend the ecosystem’s reach to millions of potential new users.
Bitcoin.com CEO Corbin Fraser said the company remains focused on building simple tools that connect users to the open financial system. He added that integrating the fast and low-cost Stellar blockchain creates new ways for both newcomers and experienced users to transact, invest, and earn inside the app.
From a product perspective, the rollout strengthens Bitcoin.com Wallet’s multi-network self-custody strategy while giving Stellar another user acquisition channel. For users interested in low-fee payments, onchain yield, and cross-border value transfer, direct in-wallet access could significantly reduce the friction of getting started.
