April 5 has again become a date the Bitcoin community watches because Satoshi Nakamoto’s P2P Foundation profile lists a birth date of April 5, 1975. Based on that entry, Bitcoin’s pseudonymous creator would turn 51 on April 5, 2026.
There is still no public proof that the date reflects a real birthday. Satoshi’s identity remains unknown, and the profile entry continues to stand out because so few public details are tied to the name behind Bitcoin. A single date, with almost no confirmed personal information around it, keeps returning as a point of discussion each year.
Why the profile date keeps drawing attention
Satoshi Nakamoto is the name used by the person or group that created Bitcoin, wrote the white paper, and released the original software. More than a decade later, verified facts about the founder remain scarce. That scarcity gives unusual weight to even a small profile detail.
The date has also attracted interest for a separate reason. April 5 matches the anniversary of Executive Order 6102, the 1933 U.S. order that restricted private gold ownership. The listed birth year, 1975, also lines up with the year private gold ownership again became legal in the United States. Because of that overlap, some people in crypto see the birthday entry as a symbolic reference rather than a literal personal detail.
That interpretation remains unconfirmed. The available material offers no direct evidence showing why the date was chosen, and there is nothing public that proves whether it was meant as biography or symbolism.
Satoshi disappeared after the last known messages
The mystery around the birthday entry has lasted in part because Satoshi stopped communicating in public years ago. The final known public forum post from Satoshi appeared on BitcoinTalk on Dec. 13, 2010. In 2011, Satoshi sent the last known private messages to developers and said Bitcoin was in “good hands.”
No verified public message from Bitcoins founder has appeared since then. Whether April 5, 1975 was a real birthday or a deliberate symbolic choice, the date continues to resurface as an annual reminder that the person or group behind Bitcoin remains absent from public view.
