Bitcoin exchange-traded funds (ETFs) extended their winning streak to nine consecutive trading days on March 27, attracting $89.57 million in net inflows. Meanwhile, ether ETFs continued their downward trend, shedding $5.89 million as total assets under management fell below the $7 billion threshold.
Bitcoin ETFs: BlackRock's IBIT Dominates Inflows
According to data from CryptoComLearn, the $89.57 million net inflow into bitcoin ETFs was largely driven by one fund: BlackRock’s iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT), which alone drew a massive $107.89 million. This positive figure was partially offset by an $18.32 million outflow from Bitwise’s BITB. The remaining ten bitcoin ETFs reported no net fund movement during the session.
Trading volume for bitcoin ETFs surged to $1.87 billion, underscoring robust investor engagement despite overall market fluctuations. However, total net assets for the category slipped to $97.22 billion, down $1.78 billion from the previous day’s close, reflecting broader price volatility in the underlying asset.
Ether ETFs: Continued Outflows, Assets Dip Below $7B
Ether ETFs struggled once again, extending their outflow streak with a net loss of $5.89 million on March 27. Grayscale’s Ethereum Trust (ETH) led the decline with a $4.90 million withdrawal, while Fidelity’s FETH saw a smaller exit of $996,090. No other ether ETFs reported net flows.
As a result, total net assets for ether ETFs fell to $6.84 billion, dropping below the psychological $7 billion mark for the first time since late March. The persistent outflows signal waning investor appetite for ether-focused products, possibly due to regulatory uncertainty and competition from layer‑2 scaling solutions.
Market Sentiment Diverges: Bitcoin Takes the Lead
The stark contrast between bitcoin ETF inflows and ether ETF outflows highlights a clear divergence in investor sentiment. Market participants appear fully inclined toward bitcoin at the moment, viewing it as a safer store of value amid macroeconomic headwinds. In contrast, ether’s ongoing transition and regulatory challenges may be prompting caution.
Looking ahead, the nine‑day inflow streak for bitcoin ETFs suggests sustained institutional interest, while ether ETFs may need a catalyst — such as a major network upgrade or clearer regulatory guidance — to reverse the outflow trend. For now, the market remains heavily tilted in favor of bitcoin.
