Ali Martinez says Bitcoin remains inside an ascending channel, with $79,000 acting as a critical support level. Holding that zone could keep the path toward $86,000 intact, while a breakdown may open the door to a deeper correction.

Bitcoin is back at a key technical area. Crypto analyst Ali Martinez says BTC is still trading within an ascending channel, a structure that has produced strong rebounds each time price retested the lower boundary. That repeated setup is keeping the $86,000 target in focus despite the latest market weakness.

The lower channel boundary is back in focus

In his latest market update, Martinez said the $79,000 level is the main support traders need to watch. He pointed to earlier rebounds from similar positions inside the same channel, noting that those moves delivered gains of more than 10%. In one case, Bitcoin climbed from around $71,000 to nearly $78,000. In another, it rebounded from roughly $75,000 and later reached about $82,900.

That history is why the current retest matters. Bitcoin recently slipped below $80,000 as volatility returned to the digital asset market, but Martinez does not view the pullback as a full trend reversal at this stage. In his reading, the move still fits within the broader bullish structure.

April rebounds are shaping the current setup

Martinez’s analysis highlights two earlier recoveries as reference points. On April 13, Bitcoin bounced from around $71,000 and rallied nearly 11% toward the upper part of the ascending channel. Then on April 30, BTC rebounded again from near $75,000 before advancing to approximately $82,900.

He now sees Bitcoin approaching the same support trendline once more. That leaves traders watching a familiar test: whether buyers can defend the $79,000 zone as uncertainty remains elevated across the market.

A break below $79,000 could weaken the bullish case

Martinez also warned that a loss of the $79,000 support region could invalidate the ascending channel structure. If that happens, Bitcoin may face a deeper correction and heavier selling pressure. The path toward $86,000 depends on that support holding.

For now, price stability around current levels remains the central issue. Traders are looking for confirmation on whether Bitcoin can resume its recovery trend or extend the latest decline.
