Bitcoin opened the week near $64,000, but it did not join the rally seen in Asian equities. CoinDesk data showed the token at $63,996 on Monday, down 0.4% over 24 hours and 2.2% over the past week.
Performance across major cryptocurrencies was mixed. Solana gained 3.7% on the week to $74, while Tron added 2.2%. Ether was roughly unchanged at $1,733. Losses were steeper elsewhere: BNB fell 4.2% on the week, XRP slipped 4.3% to $1.13, and Dogecoin was the weakest major token with a 6.5% weekly decline. HYPE, Hyperliquid’s standout token in early June, dropped 5% on the day and its weekly gain cooled to 1.9%.
Peace roadmap lifted broader sentiment, not crypto
The macro picture turned more supportive without giving digital assets a clear boost. The US and Iran agreed on a roadmap aimed at reaching a final peace deal within 60 days. Brent crude fell 1.7% to about $79 a barrel after the development.
In equities, an MSCI index tracking Asian stocks rose 0.6%, led by technology shares as optimism tied to artificial intelligence remained in place. US futures moved the other way, with S&P 500 contracts down 0.5%.
Shipping safety in the Strait of Hormuz stayed in focus
Bloomberg cited a joint statement from mediators Qatar and Pakistan saying the talks had produced encouraging progress. The statement referred to a mechanism for additional technical discussions and a communication line intended to keep commercial shipping moving safely through the Strait of Hormuz.
The process still looked fragile. Talks got off to a confusing start on Sunday after Iran briefly halted them when President Donald Trump again threatened strikes if Hezbollah kept attacking Israel. Both sides later agreed to a channel designed to prevent escalation.
Bitcoin stays range-bound as other risk assets rise
According to the report, Bitcoin had closely tracked risk assets through earlier turns in the Iran story. That pattern was less clear at the start of this week. Markets that usually move in tandem with Bitcoin were climbing, while the largest cryptocurrency remained flat and stayed below the levels it held at the start of June.
The next point of focus is whether the 60-day roadmap holds and whether crypto reconnects with the broader risk-on move.
