Bitcoin cooled after a sharp advance, with CoinDesk noting that BTC was at $82,742.29, down roughly 1% since Friday and more than 2% over the past 24 hours as it pulled back from the $84,000 level. The market’s attention is now shifting to a heavy macro calendar after last week’s hawkish Federal Reserve rate hike, which lifted the benchmark target rate to 4%. This week’s U.S. data slate includes the S&P/Case-Shiller Home Price Index, final second-quarter GDP, core PCE, initial jobless claims, ISM manufacturing PMI, nonfarm payrolls and average hourly earnings. On the crypto side, Solana is opening the activation window for its Alpenglow consensus upgrade, which replaces TowerBFT with the new Votor protocol to reduce voting transaction overhead. Governance items are also on the calendar, including votes at World Liberty Financial, Balancer and Decentraland, while token unlocks are scheduled for Canton and Falcon Finance. Korea Blockchain Week is set to run from Sept. 29 to Oct. 1 in Seoul.

Bitcoin is taking a pause after a strong rally, with CoinDesk reporting that BTC was at $82,742.29, down roughly 1% since Friday and off more than 2% in the last 24 hours as it pulled back from the $84,000 threshold.

According to CoinDesk’s latest Crypto Week Ahead, traders are digesting the recent jump in prices while shifting their focus to a packed macro schedule. That comes after last week’s hawkish rate move from the Federal Reserve, which raised the benchmark target rate to 4%. Cross-asset markets are also watching the broader policy path after recent rate decisions from the Bank of Japan and the Bank of England.

Crypto events on the calendar

On Sept. 28, Solana opens the activation window for its Alpenglow consensus upgrade. The change will replace TowerBFT with the new Votor protocol, a move aimed at reducing voting transaction overhead across the network.

Balancer, which CoinDesk said is facing a potential shutdown, is voting on a protocol reincarnation proposal. The measure would fork its core architecture and move the project into a new ecosystem. Voting ends on Sept. 29.

Decentraland is also running a vote on a security response proposal after more than 1,000 Decentraland Names were stolen from user accounts. The proposal calls for an immediate investigation and asks for a temporary freeze or suspension of all smart-contract activity, affected accounts and secondary transfers tied to Decentraland Names to prevent any further transfers. Voting closes on Oct. 1.
