Bitcoin took a sharp dive to $60,000 in the early hours, the lowest since October 2024, before bouncing back above $65,000 — a recovery of more than 8% from the bottom. Whether the rebound holds depends on BTC maintaining the $63,000 level; a V-shaped reversal is not guaranteed, and a retest of lows remains possible.

Dormant Whale Reawakens, Buys 482 BTC

On-chain analytics platform Lookonchain tracked a whale address that had been inactive for seven months suddenly springing to life, purchasing 482 BTC (worth approximately $32.5 million) as Bitcoin hit $60,000. The same address last moved in July 2025, when BTC was near $95,000; it chose to wait and watch. Now, after a price drop of over 35%, the whale appears to see long-term value. The address now holds 1,960 BTC, valued at roughly $128 million at the current price.

Metaplanet: 'Unwavering' Bitcoin Strategy

Simon Gerovich, CEO of Japan's 'MicroStrategy' — Metaplanet — took to X to calm investors. 'Given recent stock volatility, the market environment is challenging for shareholders. However, Metaplanet's strategy remains unchanged. We will continue to steadily develop our Bitcoin business, expand revenue, and prepare for the next phase of growth.' This stance aligns with that of Strategy's Michael Saylor and Bitmine's Tom Lee: despite substantial paper losses, these Bitcoin treasury companies refuse to sell in panic and hold firm.

Current holdings and estimated paper losses among major Bitcoin treasuries:

  • Strategy (US): ~470,000 BTC; paper loss briefly exceeded $10 billion this morning.
  • Bitmine (US): ~4.28 million ETH; paper loss near $8 billion.
  • Metaplanet (Japan): ~1,762 BTC; also facing significant unrealized loss.

Extreme Fear Lingers, Bottom Not Yet Confirmed

The Crypto Fear & Greed Index remains in 'Extreme Fear' territory (below 10). While the whale's activity and Metaplanet's reaffirmation send bullish signals, the bottom is not yet certain. In the short term, the $60,000 support level is critical; if lost again without a quick recovery, the next major floor sits near $55,000. Over the medium to long term, watch for a turn in ETF flows and a recovery in macro liquidity. As the old saying goes, 'Be greedy when others are fearful' — but for retail investors, strict position and leverage control remain the top priority until a clear bottom forms.
