Bitcoin discussion volume on social platforms set a new high, with daily mentions reaching 342,533 on February 14, 2026. The jump came while BTC traded near $69,000, still about 45% below its $125,000 peak from October 2025.
The increase was well above normal activity. Social mentions were 129% higher than the daily average of 172,700, while total engagement climbed to 228 million, a 77% increase from typical levels. The number of unique creators posting about Bitcoin rose to 93,300, up 41% from average activity. Tracked sentiment also stayed constructive, with roughly 80% of posts reflecting a bullish stance.
Bitcoin captured a larger share of crypto discussion
Social dominance reached 23.8%, meaning nearly a quarter of all crypto-related conversation focused on Bitcoin. High-engagement posts circulated the 342,533 figure as a new record across major platforms. The previous peak stood at 328,892 and was recorded on November 21.
That timing matters. Bitcoin social activity has often peaked close to price tops, but this surge arrived while BTC remained far below its prior high. The gap between attention and price has become one of the more closely watched features of the current market setup.
Policy narratives added fuel to the online surge
Several macro and regulatory themes moved through the market at the same time. ETF proposals were widely discussed as potential gateways for institutional capital. In the United States, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said progress on crypto legislation would give markets comfort, and the remark was heavily reposted across financial channels.
Outside the U.S., lawmakers in Brazil revived a Strategic Bitcoin Reserve proposal targeting 1 million BTC. Discussion around sovereign accumulation spread quickly online. Those policy threads, centered on regulation and state-level reserve ideas, appeared alongside the record rise in Bitcoin mentions.
Short-term chart signals stayed firm near resistance
Price action was also pushing into a key zone. On the one-hour BTC/USDT chart on Binance, Bitcoin traded around $70,180, testing the $70,000 to $70,200 range. The structure showed a series of higher lows and higher highs. Short-term momentum remained positive.
MACD (12,26,9) printed positive histogram bars, with the signal line below the MACD line, a configuration consistent with expanding bullish momentum. RSI (14) hovered near 75, placing it in overbought territory, yet price and RSI continued to rise together without visible bearish divergence. Volume increased, but there was no climactic spike. Social engagement stayed elevated as BTC continued to trade near the $70,000 resistance area.
