Bitcoin Suisse’s international unit has received Bermuda approvals under the Digital Asset Business Act and Investment Business Act, clearing a pre-operational step toward serving professional and institutional clients outside Switzerland.

Bitcoin Suisse said its affiliate, Bitcoin Suisse (International) Ltd., has received approval from the Bermuda Monetary Authority for a Class F digital asset business license under the Digital Asset Business Act and a Class B registration under the Investment Business Act 2003. The approvals were granted on a pre-operational basis, meaning customary conditions still need to be completed before the company can begin regulated digital asset management and investment advisory services.

The Bermuda-based entity, domiciled in Hamilton, now has the regulatory footing to serve professional and institutional clients outside Switzerland through a dedicated international structure. According to the announcement, its offering will include investment advisory, discretionary portfolio management mandates, and proprietary investment strategies. Clients will be able to fund mandates in Bitcoin, stablecoins, or fiat currency.

License structure opens path for advisory and portfolio management

Bitcoin Suisse said the DABA license covers regulated digital asset business services, while the IBA registration allows the entity to provide investment advice and discretionary portfolio management. The company framed the approvals as part of a broader move to meet institutional demand for digital asset exposure within a regulated setting. In its view, professional investors are looking for crypto-native expertise paired with the governance and compliance standards expected in traditional finance.

The entity will operate on a non-custodial basis, using regulated custodians and partner banks for institutional-grade security. Investment decisions will be supported by its CIO Office and a dedicated research function. Bitcoin Suisse also pointed to its internal Crypto Analysis Framework and its Global Crypto Taxonomy, which classifies about 600 digital assets across six sectors, built on more than a decade of crypto-focused research.

Bermuda expansion adds to existing international footprint

The company described Bermuda as one of the leading jurisdictions for digital assets, noting that the territory introduced the Digital Asset Business Act in 2018 as an early comprehensive regulatory framework. Receiving both a DABA license and an IBA registration, it said, reflects the group’s compliance infrastructure, governance standards, and operational maturity.

The Bermuda milestone adds to Bitcoin Suisse’s existing expansion efforts. The group already holds an In-Principle Approval from the Financial Services Regulatory Authority of Abu Dhabi Global Market, which it says supports its regulated offering for clients in the Middle East. Taken together, the approvals support Bitcoin Suisse’s push to serve professional and institutional clients across multiple jurisdictions, including ultra-high-net-worth individuals, family offices, external asset managers, and corporate counterparties.

Bitcoin Suisse AG was founded in 2013 and is headquartered in Zug, Switzerland. The firm provides trading, custody, staking, and lending services for institutional clients, crypto foundations, family offices, asset managers, and high-net-worth individuals, and says it has a team of more than 200 professionals across Switzerland, Europe, and the Middle East.
