Bithumb Holdings, the operator of South Korea's second-largest crypto exchange, has appointed Kim Ki-beom as its new CEO. Former CEO Lee Jae-won will step down to focus on the exchange's day-to-day operations. Kim previously led external relations and compliance.
South Korea’s second-largest crypto exchange, Bithumb, announced a leadership shake-up on September 8. At a board meeting, its holding company, Bithumb Holdings, named Kim Ki-beom as the new CEO. Kim is a close associate of controlling shareholder Lee Jung-hoon and had previously led external relations, handling communication and compliance.
Outgoing CEO Lee Jae-won will now turn his attention to running the Bithumb trading platform itself, the company said. So yes, this change is part of a wider governance adjustment at the exchange.
