Bitmain, the world's leading manufacturer of ASIC mining equipment, has officially unveiled its latest and most powerful bitcoin miner to date: the Antminer S19 XP Hyd. This liquid-cooled machine delivers an astounding 255 terahash per second (TH/s) of computing power while maintaining an energy efficiency of just 20.8 joules per terahash (J/T). The announcement, made through Bitmain’s official website, marks a major leap forward in mining hardware performance.
Specifications and Performance Highlights
The S19 XP Hyd. surpasses the previously announced S19 Pro+ Hyd. (198 TH/s, 27.5 J/T) by a significant margin. It consumes 5,304 watts of power and supports SHA-256 algorithms for mining Bitcoin (BTC), Bitcoin Cash (BCH), and Bitcoin SV (BSV). Each unit is priced at $19,890, with bulk pricing available upon inquiry. Bitmain’s website lists both the XP Hyd. and the Pro+ Hyd. as available for pre-order, although delivery timelines differ.
According to the official specifications, the new miner achieves a 29% increase in hashrate over the Pro+ Hyd. while improving efficiency by over 24%. This makes it one of the most power-efficient mining rigs ever produced, capable of delivering substantial daily revenue under current network difficulty and electricity costs.
Delivery Schedule and Market Context
While the S19 Pro+ Hyd. is scheduled for shipment starting in May 2022, the flagship XP Hyd. units will not be delivered until the first quarter of 2023 (January–March). This lag suggests Bitmain is using the higher-end model to target forward-looking mining operations planning capacity upgrades. Currently, the most widely available high-end miners are the Microbt Whatsminer M30S++ and Bitmain’s own Antminer S19 Pro (110–112 TH/s). With electricity at $0.12/kWh, these machines generate roughly $10 per day in Bitcoin profit. By contrast, an S19 Pro+ Hyd. could yield around $19.89 daily, and the XP Hyd. is expected to deliver even higher returns.
Bitmain’s Liquid-Cooling Ecosystem
Bitmain is not only selling individual miners but also promoting a complete liquid-cooling infrastructure. The Antspace HK3 container, priced at $110,000, can house 210 mining rigs and provides 1 megawatt of power. This container is optimized for the Hyd. series, ensuring proper cooling and power distribution. The company is clearly betting on immersion and liquid cooling as the next frontier in large-scale mining, especially as energy costs and environmental scrutiny intensify.
Industry observers note that the S19 XP Hyd. sets a new benchmark for ASIC performance. At 255 TH/s, it is more than double the hashrate of many current-generation machines, and its 20.8 J/T efficiency is best-in-class. As Bitcoin’s network hashrate continues to climb and halving events compress margins, such efficient hardware will be critical for miners to remain profitable. The new miner is expected to accelerate the retirement of older, less efficient models like the S9 series and early S19 variants.
Bitmain also continues to offer air-cooled alternatives, including the S19 XP (140 TH/s) at $11,620 and the S19j Pro (104 TH/s) at $9,984, ensuring a range of options for different budget levels and operational environments.
