Bitmain, the world's leading manufacturer of ASIC mining hardware, has announced its newest bitcoin miner — the Antminer S19 XP Hyd. This liquid-cooled machine boasts an unprecedented hash rate of 255 terahash per second (TH/s) and an efficiency rating of just 20.8 joules per terahash (J/T), making it the most powerful and energy-efficient miner ever released by the company.

A Generational Leap in Performance

Compared to the Antminer S19 Pro+ Hyd. (198 TH/s, 27.5 J/T) revealed in late January, the S19 XP Hyd. offers a 29% improvement in hash rate and a 24% improvement in energy efficiency. It completely outclasses current mainstream models such as the Antminer S19 Pro (110 TH/s) and Microbt's Whatsminer M30S++ (112 TH/s), which deliver roughly $10 per day in BTC profits at $0.12/kWh. With 5,304 watts of power draw, the S19 XP Hyd. can mine BTC, BCH, and BSV simultaneously.

Pricing and Availability

According to Bitmain's official website, the S19 XP Hyd. is priced at $19,890 per unit and is available for bulk orders. However, deliveries are scheduled for January to March 2023. In contrast, the S19 Pro+ Hyd. costs $15,048 and will ship in May 2022. Bitmain also continues to sell other models, including the S19j Pro (104 TH/s) at $9,984 per unit, which are currently in stock.

Ecosystem for Liquid Cooling

To maximize the potential of its liquid-cooled miners, Bitmain offers the Antspace HK3 containerized data center, priced at $110,000 per unit. Each container can house 210 mining rigs and provides 1 MW of power, simplifying large-scale deployment of hydro-cooling infrastructure.

Market Context and Profitability

With current BTC prices and electricity costs of $0.12/kWh, a single S19 Pro+ Hyd. is estimated to generate around $19.89 per day in BTC profit. The S19 XP Hyd., with its superior efficiency, is expected to yield even higher daily returns. Bitmain had experienced a sell-out of many ASIC models in recent months, and the renewed availability of high-performance units signals sustained demand from institutional miners.

The introduction of the Antminer S19 XP Hyd. marks a new era in bitcoin mining hardware, pushing the boundaries of both computational power and energy efficiency. While the high upfront cost and advanced cooling requirements may limit adoption to well-funded mining operations, those who deploy these machines in 2023 will gain a significant competitive edge in the ongoing hash rate race.
