Onchain Lens, an on-chain analytics platform, reported on Jan. 8 via X that Bitmine had staked an additional 19,200 ETH worth roughly $60.85 million, pushing its total staked balance to approximately 827,008 ETH. At current market prices, that stack is valued at about $2.62 billion.
Staking cadence: a rapid ramp since late December
Bitmine began its Ethereum staking push on Dec. 27, 2025, with an initial deposit of 74,880 ETH. Deposits then accelerated: 82,560 ETH in early January, a much larger 186,336 ETH on Jan. 6, and the latest 19,200 ETH. Nearly one-fifth of the firm’s ETH holdings are now actively staked.
With Ethereum’s current staking yield hovering around 2.8%, Bitmine’s annual returns from staking alone could reach tens of millions of dollars if it maintains this pace.
Corporate ETH vault: over 4 million tokens, 3.4% of supply
Bitmine now holds more than 4.07 million ETH, valued at roughly $12.8 billion, representing about 3.4% of Ethereum’s total supply. That makes it the largest known corporate holder of ETH and places it second overall among digital asset treasury firms, behind only Strategy’s Bitcoin holdings.
Across the market, 68 ETH reserve companies collectively hold about 6.81 million ETH (worth ~$21.4 billion, or 5.6% of supply). Bitmine alone accounts for a significant portion of that total. Compared to other ETH-focused treasuries such as SharpLink Gaming, Bitmine’s position is outsized.
Under founder Tom Lee, the company’s focus has shifted from immersion cooling to large-scale digital asset accumulation. Weekly ETH purchases and persistent staking have cemented Ethereum as the centerpiece of its balance sheet.
MAVAN validator network: Q1 2026 target
Bitmine is preparing to launch the “Made-in-America Validator Network” (MAVAN), which will run Ethereum validators in the United States. Earlier guidance pointed to a Q1 2026 rollout. However, the validator entry queue has already experienced periods of congestion, partly driven by large institutional deposits like Bitmine’s.
Growing centralization debate
The concentration of staking activity into a small number of corporate validators has drawn mixed reactions. Some analysts warn that more ETH flowing into a handful of enterprise-controlled nodes could undermine network decentralization.
Bitmine’s next shareholder meeting is scheduled for Jan. 15 in Las Vegas, where Lee is expected to detail further staking plans, validator deployment timelines, and the broader Ethereum strategy.
