BlackRock's iShares Staked Ethereum Trust (ETHB) plans to stake 70%-95% of its ETH holdings, offering institutional investors 82% of staking rewards via Coinbase, expected launch in H1 2026.

BlackRock is moving closer to launching its iShares Staked Ethereum Trust, expected to trade under the ticker ETHB. The fund would hold Ethereum and stake 70% to 95% of its assets to generate yield, with a small portion kept unstaked for liquidity management. Institutional investors would receive approximately 82% of staking rewards, while the remainder goes to BlackRock and its execution partner Coinbase. The ETF also charges a 0.25% sponsor fee. The product follows the success of the spot ETHA ETF, which has already crossed $6 billion in assets under management.

Seed Investment and Regulatory Window

A December filing revealed that a seed investor purchased 4,000 shares at $0.25 each to help launch the fund. Though no official launch date has been announced, market insiders expect approval in the first half of 2026, as regulators have become more open to ETFs that incorporate staking rewards — a structure previously disallowed. Coinbase serves as the execution partner for staking activities.

Institutional Buying Adds Support

Meanwhile, institutional activity in ETH is rising. Mining firm BitMine recently acquired 17,722 ETH (worth about $34.7 million). Large purchases like this can help support price levels and improve market sentiment. Investors can track ETF-related wallet activity via platforms like Arkham, though on-chain movements typically appear a day later due to traditional finance settlement procedures.

Price Action: ETH Stuck in a Range

Ethereum is currently trading near $1,973 after a modest rebound. The RSI had dipped into the mid-30s, signaling oversold conditions, but stronger volume is needed to confirm a sustained bounce. Resistance sits at $2,025 and the psychological $2,000 level; a breakout could push towards $2,100. On the downside, support is around $1,900, with deeper support near $1,748. The ETHB ETF narrative provides a long-term catalyst, but short-term prices still hinge on technical levels and overall market sentiment.
