Swiss gaming studio 7 Digital Labs has announced a $4 million seed round for BloodLoop, its flagship blockchain gaming project. The round was backed by Avalanche Foundation, Merit Circle, and Citizen Capital, with the proceeds intended to complete development and support the game’s eventual launch.
BloodLoop is positioned as a free-to-play 5v5 third-person hero shooter built for the web3 era while still aiming to appeal to mainstream players. According to the company, the game attracted more than 350,000 registered users in just two weeks, with those users waiting for a closed beta scheduled for the coming months.
Blending traditional gameplay with on-chain ownership
The project is designed to act as a bridge between conventional web2 gaming and blockchain-based economies. Rather than centering the experience solely on crypto features, BloodLoop emphasizes competitive shooter gameplay, multiple maps, and different game modes, while layering in digital ownership through blockchain rails.
After matches, players can obtain materials and fragments represented as NFTs. These assets can be used in the in-game Forge system to create limited skins and artifacts, which may then be used inside the game or resold to other players. The title also includes competitive ranking systems, allowing players to climb weekly and monthly leaderboards and earn $BLS rewards.
Avalanche Subnet powers the game infrastructure
On the technical side, BloodLoop is being built on an Avalanche Subnet, a dedicated blockchain environment within the Avalanche ecosystem. The team says this setup is meant to enable faster and more secure exchanges between users, remove in-game transaction fees, and reduce friction for players unfamiliar with blockchain products.
CEO and co-founder Luca Menale said the company wants to build gaming platforms that deliver a fluid next-generation experience while making blockchain benefits feel seamless to users. Ava Labs’ Head of Gaming, Ed Chang, said the team’s progress over the past three years has been notable and described BloodLoop as a project with the ingredients to become a leading emerging web3 hero shooter.
