BNB Chain has released its technical roadmap for the second half of 2026, laying out three core targets for the months ahead: doubling mainnet throughput again, with a longer-term goal of a 10x increase; reducing cross-application interference through an advanced resource isolation mechanism; and refining the gas fee model to lower access costs for enterprise users.
The measures named in the roadmap include implementing BEP-675, introducing dedicated channel solutions, advancing BAL-based parallel execution, and applying more granular gas fee adjustments for specific industries.
Performance gains reported for the first half of 2026
BNB Chain said that in the first half of 2026, BSC reduced block intervals from 750 milliseconds to 450 milliseconds, lowered in-memory finality time from 1,125 milliseconds to 650 milliseconds, and lifted baseline throughput from around 2,800 TPS to 5,200 TPS, or about 400 MGas/s.
It also said the BSC Rust client has achieved full compatibility with Reth v2.0, with performance improving by 2x.
Next-generation L1 architecture targeted for late-2026 testnet
Beyond upgrades to the current mainnet, BNB Chain said it is developing a next-generation Layer 1 architecture. Its stated targets include more than 100,000 TPS, transaction pre-confirmation below 50 milliseconds, a TxStream mechanism without a public mempool, PriorityLane reserved block space governed on-chain, and native privacy transactions at the protocol layer.
According to the roadmap, the new architecture is scheduled to go live on testnet by the end of 2026, with a mainnet launch planned for early 2027.
Quantum-resistant security research remains in progress
BNB Chain also said it will continue research into quantum-resistant security, including possible combinations of hybrid quantum-resistant approaches and account abstraction.
