Messari's Q4 2025 report paints a strong finish for BNB Chain: network usage climbed, real-world assets (RWAs) exploded, and stablecoin market cap expanded. The data covers activity on BNB Smart Chain through year-end amid market volatility.
BNB Price Dip but Annual Gain
At year-end, BNB traded at $863 with an $118.9B market cap, up 17.8% year-over-year, keeping it third by market cap (excluding stablecoins). However the Q4 cap dropped 15.3% quarter-over-quarter after October price swings.
Network Activity Soars: 17.3M Daily Transactions
Average daily transactions rose 30.4% QoQ to 17.3 million. Daily active addresses climbed 13.3% to 2.6 million. Even excluding October's volatility spike, baseline activity stayed above Q3 levels. Fee revenue hit $100.1 million, up 127.3% QoQ, most of which came around October 11 when liquidations drove block space demand.
RWAs Fastest-Growing Segment, USYC Dominates
Onchain RWA value reached $2.0 billion, a 228% quarterly increase and 554.6% year-over-year surge. Large institutional deployments fueled growth, including USYC, BlackRock's BUIDL, and assets from CMB International. That pushed BNB Chain to second globally by RWA value, behind only Ethereum. USYC represented 70.5% of total, BUIDL 25.2%, with smaller allocations to Matrixdock Gold and VanEck's Treasury Fund.
DeFi TVL Down QoQ, PancakeSwap Leads
DeFi total value locked ended Q4 at $6.6 billion, down 15.2% QoQ but still up 23.6% year-over-year. PancakeSwap held the top spot with $2.2 billion and a 33.5% market share.
Stablecoin Cap Rises to $15.2B, USDC Grows Fast
Stablecoin market cap grew 9.2% to $15.2 billion. USDT remained dominant at $9.0 billion. USDC rose 23.1% to $1.3 billion, while USD1 fell to $1.9 billion. Messari noted that payment-focused initiatives and stablecoin partnerships supported onchain activity despite broader market pressure.
