BNB Chain said BSC’s benchmark throughput climbed from 2,800 TPS to 5,200 TPS in the first half of 2026. Over the same period, block intervals were reduced from 750 milliseconds to 450 milliseconds, while memory finality improved from 1,125 milliseconds to 650 milliseconds, cutting the time needed for confirmations and final transaction acceptance.
The update lays out a clear before-and-after picture. New blocks are produced faster, transactions reach finality sooner, and the network can handle far more activity than it could at the start of the year. BNB Chain also said it is aiming for another 2x increase in throughput on BSC mainnet in the second half of 2026.
Three key performance metrics moved at the same time
The data released by BNB Chain shows coordinated gains across the network’s main performance indicators between January and June 2026. A shorter block interval reduces waiting time for users and applications. Lower memory finality shortens the window before a transaction is treated as irreversible on the network.
The headline figure is the move to 5,200 TPS. For smart contract applications and token transfers, that means more transactions processed each second and more room for activity as usage from developers and users expands.
Engineering changes behind the jump
BNB Chain linked the performance gains to several technical upgrades. One of them is the Block-Level Access List, or BAL, which prepares transaction data before execution. The network said this improves efficiency and creates a base for parallel processing in later updates.
Another change, Incremental Snapshot, is meant to help new or delayed nodes sync with the active chain more quickly. BNB Chain also pointed to EVM SuperInstruction, an Ethereum Virtual Machine enhancement designed to reduce unnecessary repeated execution and lift throughput. Extended Voting Rules were introduced to preserve transaction finality under difficult network conditions.
H2 roadmap extends the scaling push
For the second half of 2026, BNB Chain plans to push BSC mainnet throughput up by another twofold. The company described that target as part of a broader multi-year plan aimed at delivering a 10x performance increase.
The roadmap includes BEP-675 upgrades and more tuning of BAL to raise network capacity. It also calls for stronger congestion controls to keep performance stable during periods of heavy demand. Dedicated lanes are being considered to reduce interference between different applications running on the blockchain.
Beyond raw throughput, BNB Chain said it is preparing new gas fee models for specific business segments to optimize transaction cost structures for different user groups. The team is also developing a new Layer 1 architecture with a stated goal of reaching more than 100,000 TPS and bringing transaction preconfirmation times below 50 milliseconds.
