Misty Breez Wallet: A New Breez SDK-based Application
Today, Breez launches Misty Breez, its latest wallet application built using the Breez SDK. The Breez SDK was initially developed to simplify the process of integrating Lightning Network support into various consumer applications. Dozens of existing projects and companies currently build on Lightning using the SDK.
Two Integration Models: Native and Nodeless
The Breez SDK supports two methods of Lightning integration. Native mode allows app developers to integrate a Lightning wallet or functionality using Blockstream's Greenlight service, where a cloud-based Lightning node is hosted for users while private keys remain solely under user control. Nodeless mode enables Liquid support to seamlessly interact with the Lightning Network. Both models provide full access to Lightning Network features as well as Liquid, eliminating the complexity of building support from scratch.
Misty Breez is built on the Nodeless SDK tooling. This means users' coins are self-custodied on the Liquid sidechain, granting users full control over their funds but also requiring trust in the Liquid Network's federation signers to remain honest.
Wallet Features: Multiple Payment Standards and Offline Payments
The wallet supports BOLT 11 and BOLT 12 invoices, LNURL-Pay, Lightning Addresses, on-chain Bitcoin addresses, and Matt Corrallo's BIP 353, which uses DNS to look up payment details for another user's wallet. It also supports offline payments using mobile OS notifications.
The Breez SDK aims to provide developers with tools to build a seamless, use-case-specific user experience with minimal effort. Misty Breez sets a benchmark for a simplified UX that other developers can reference for Lightning integration or even build upon directly.
Fully Open-Source, Ready for Rebranding and Customization
Misty Breez is 100% open-source. Developers can freely integrate desired functionality into Misty Breez and rebrand it as they wish. Documentation for the Breez SDK Nodeless configuration is available, along with the GitHub repository for Misty Breez. Early access releases are available for Android and iOS, with a direct APK download option. All the tooling for developers to build a new user experience is ready today.
