Coinbase Chief Executive Officer Brian Armstrong said in a post on X that cryptocurrency has already made a measurable contribution to global financial access. He pointed to several areas he believes show that progress. In his view, stablecoins have brought the U.S. dollar on-chain, allowing people anywhere to hold a low-inflation currency and transfer funds around the clock for less than $0.01. He also said decentralized finance, or DeFi, gives anyone access to credit services. Armstrong added that tokenized stocks could open a path to investing in the U.S. stock market for 4 billion people who cannot invest through brokerages, while Bitcoin offers a store of value that is not diluted by inflation. He said there is still more work to do across these areas, but argued that the progress already made should not be overlooked.
