ChainCatcher reported, citing Coinglass data, that BTC’s current 8-hour average funding rate across the network is 0.0004%. The funding rate is a metric commonly used in the Bitcoin perpetual futures market, where it reflects the periodic funding exchange between market participants and helps describe the relationship between perpetual contract pricing and spot market pricing.
Funding rates differ across major exchanges
Among the major exchanges currently listed in the data, Binance shows a BTC funding rate of 0.0009%, while OKX reports 0.0036%. Bybit’s BTC funding rate is -0.0029%, making it the only negative figure among the exchanges mentioned, and Gate reports a rate of 0.0054%, the highest value in the provided set.
When a funding rate is positive, long positions typically pay short positions; when it is negative, short positions typically pay long positions. In this update, Coinglass placed the overall 8-hour average BTC funding rate at 0.0004% and provided separate figures for Binance, OKX, Bybit and Gate.
