Cango has released its January 2026 Bitcoin production and mining operations update, saying severe cold and blizzards in key North American regions caused temporary downtime and pushed down its average hash rate. Even with those disruptions, the company said favorable network difficulty adjustments helped it mine nearly 500 BTC during the month.

Weather disruptions hit mining sites across key North American regions

The update was issued on February 3. CEO and Director Paul Yu said extreme winter conditions affected operations during January, with blizzards and freezing temperatures leading to short-term interruptions at mining facilities. Average hash rate declined during the period. Still, the company said changes in network difficulty partly offset the pressure on production and kept monthly Bitcoin output close to the 500 BTC mark.

Cango plans selective sales of newly mined Bitcoin

Paul Yu also said that starting this month, Cango will selectively sell a portion of newly mined Bitcoin. The company said the move is intended to support the expansion of its inference platform and other near-term growth initiatives. In its statement, Cango described the plan as a way to keep more flexibility in pursuing new business opportunities while managing liquidity more actively. No sale ratio, timetable, or value was disclosed.

Operations span more than 40 sites as AI compute projects continue

Cango describes itself as a Bitcoin mining company building an integrated global infrastructure platform tied to the future digital economy. Its mining operations cover more than 40 sites across North America, the Middle East, South America, and East Africa. Since entering the digital asset sector in November 2024, the company has launched pilot projects in integrated energy solutions and distributed AI computing. Cango also said it continues to run its international online used-car export business through AutoCango.com.
