Cango said in its 2025 shareholder letter that it is expanding from global Bitcoin mining into AI compute infrastructure, backed by 50 EH/s of mining machines, 50 MW of energy infrastructure, and a new Dallas-based subsidiary focused on AI initiatives.

Cango has outlined a plan to expand beyond Bitcoin mining and build an AI compute infrastructure platform, according to its 2025 letter to shareholders. The NYSE-listed company said the past year was focused on building a global mining footprint across four key regions while putting in place the assets and structure needed for the next stage of the business.

50 EH/s mining fleet and 50 MW energy infrastructure form the base

In the letter, Cango said it acquired and improved the hash rate efficiency of 50 EH/s of on-rack machines. It also said it adopted a strategic treasury approach, divested legacy operations, secured 50 MW of energy infrastructure, and completed its transition to a direct NYSE listing. The company described these steps as the foundation for moving from hosted hashpower toward a globally distributed inference compute grid.

Cango also said it made a treasury adjustment in response to market conditions. The stated goal was to strengthen the balance sheet and reduce financial leverage, giving the company more room to fund expansion into AI compute infrastructure. The shareholder letter did not include the size of that adjustment or new financial figures.

Mining infrastructure is being repositioned for AI inference demand

The company argued that its mining operations, operating experience, and power-linked infrastructure offer a practical route into AI computing. In its view, the AI sector is facing a “Power Gap,” with compute demand rising faster than available grid capacity. Cango said it intends to use globally accessible, grid-connected infrastructure to supply flexible and high-performance compute capacity aimed at long-tail inference demand.

The roadmap is divided into three phases. In the near term, Cango plans to standardize and deploy modular, containerized GPU nodes for fast rollout and on-demand compute capacity. In the medium term, it plans to launch a proprietary software orchestration platform and move toward an integrated, enterprise-grade network model. The long-term target is to scale into a mature global AI infrastructure platform by activating underused power resources and building recurring revenue streams.

Dallas subsidiary EcoHash will lead AI compute efforts

To speed up that transition, Cango said it has established EcoHash Technology LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary based in Dallas, Texas. The unit is dedicated to AI compute initiatives and will operate under the leadership of a newly appointed AI CTO. The company also said it wants to act as an “ecosystem enabler” for the broader mining sector by offering a technical path for adapting existing energy infrastructure to AI operations with manageable upfront commitment.

Cango described the shift as a multi-year process. For now, the company is presenting AI compute as an extension built on top of its existing Bitcoin mining base, with the aim of opening new recurring revenue channels alongside its core mining business.
